PHILADELPHIA – Vermont delegate Maria Rinaldi said she was unable to sit with the Vermont delegation at the Wells Fargo Center Monday night because of her disability. “I was really surprised to learn that Vermont was not in an accessible area, and so on the first night, I was forced to sit isolated in the ADA section,” Rinaldi said.
Former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean urged delegates from Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire to unify behind the Democratic presidential candidacy of Hillary Clinton. Dean, a former presidential nominee, was one of several Clinton backers who emphasized the need for party unity at a breakfast with delegates on Tuesday.
PHILADELPHIA – Delegates to the Democratic National Convention are expected to ratify a proposal Monday for a “unity reform commission” to change the superdelegate process. The resolution, which was passed at Saturday’s Rules Committee meeting, was the result of intense negotiations between backers of Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders.
Two men have been dropped from the Vermont delegation to the Democratic National Convention and one male delegate will challenge a Vermont Democratic Party decision to replace them with female delegates. The complaint will be heard at the Democratic convention’s credentials meeting this Sunday.
