In this special topics course, students from Temple University‘s School of Media and Communication worked as producers, reporters, photographers, editors and journalists for news outlets around the country covering the 2016 Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia
In the weeks leading up to the DNC, the course focused on the history and inner workings of national conventions, the effect conventions have on voters, and the production, journalism, and strategic communication surrounding large political media events.
Students also learned the proven strategies required to accurately and efficiently cover this kind of complex event. This was a school-wide, cross-listed journalism class and students’ roles and responsibilities were customized based their major and area of interest.
